Bus flips over on freeway in South Africa, killing 12 and injuring dozens

At the very least 12 individuals died and 45 have been injured when a bus flipped over on a freeway in South Africa, throwing passengers from the car.

Emergency providers have been on the scene in Johannesburg on Tuesday making an attempt to elevate the bus again on to its wheels to see if any extra individuals have been trapped beneath it.

“On arrival we found patients lying across the road,” stated William Nthladi, a spokesperson for town’s Ekurhuleni Emergency Administration.

The crash occurred early on Tuesday morning on a street close to town’s OR Tambo Worldwide Airport.

The bus had been carrying individuals from the township of Katlehong, east of Johannesburg, officers stated, when it flipped over close to the sting of the freeway.

“We are lost for words. This is a disaster,” stated Andile Mngwevu, a neighborhood metropolis councillor who went to the scene.

“To see so many bodies lying around is quite saddening, and the city really feels for the families who would have expected to see their loved ones return home later today. Our hearts are extremely heavy right now.”

Mr Nthladi confirmed 12 individuals have been declared useless on the scene by paramedics. Accidents among the many survivors ranged from severe to important, he stated.

The driving force was amongst these taken to the hospital.
