BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — A cadet disarmed a 5-year-old who had a loaded handgun whereas serving a subpoena in Battle Creek on Saturday.

The Battle Creek Police Division mentioned a cadet was serving a subpoena on Inn Highway off of E Columbia Avenue on Saturday when a 5-year-old answered the door with a kitchen knife. The cadet referred to as an officer for backup and requested the kid to have an grownup come to the door. When the kid returned they have been armed with a loaded handgun, which the cadet eliminated.

When officers arrived, two males and a girl have been discovered inside the house. They have been taken into custody for questioning, the police division mentioned.

Because of the handgun and “deplorable condition of the home,” 5 youngsters who vary in age from 8 years to six months have been turned over to Baby Protecting Companies, the police division mentioned. One of many youngsters was taken to the hospital attributable to well being issues.
