Capturing kills 18-year-old girl in Jackson, police say

Capturing kills 18-year-old girl in Jackson, police say

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — 18-year-old Mia Sims was shot and killed Sunday afternoon close to United Peoples Church in Jackson. Police haven’t but named a suspect within the murder.

Jackson Police Chief Chris Simpson experiences that officers responded to the 1500 block of Carl Breeding Means after receiving requires photographs fired at 12:45 p.m. Officers arrived to search out Sims in a automobile with a gunshot wound in her “neck area.”

She was transported to the Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, the place she later died from her accidents.

The Jackson Police Division, the Blackman Township Division of Public Security, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Workplace and the Michigan State Police Jackson Submit are persevering with the investigation.

Police didn’t say if any arrests have been made in reference to the taking pictures, and that it’s extremely early within the investigation.

“I can say we certainly have people of interest that we’re investigating right now, but right now it’s just too early to name suspects at this juncture of the investigation,” Simpson stated.

Marcus Smith, a Jackson resident, says he went to highschool with Sims, and the tragedy hits near residence.

“It hurt the community for real too, because everybody knew her. She knew a lot of people, and everybody loves her,” stated Smith. “She was a great girl, you know, she was respectful, always positive.”
