CFTC Nominee Brian Quintenz tells all in Winklevoss twins battle

The messages, which had been prolonged and purposely imprecise, appear to ask Quintenz to “rectify what happened to [Gemini]” and implement “cultural reform” inside the Commodity Futures Buying and selling Fee (CFTC).

Quintenz didn’t push again on these requests and implied that in relation to the CFTC, he does “not have anything close to a full picture of what is going on inside.”

Quintenz shared screenshots of his conversions with the Winklevoss twins yesterday on X.

The publicly shared Sign messages name into query quite a few potential points with regulators and the trade billionaires they’re presupposed to be monitoring.

For example, is it acceptable for Quintenz to be in a personal Sign chat discussing how he’ll assist the Winklevii if he succeeds in his nomination? Are we totally in a kleptocratic republic when billionaires count on favors for endorsements?

Is a16z now at conflict with the Winklevii? Does Quintenz not get together with different people working on the CFTC now?

Nothing unlawful, however not good for anybody

The reasoning behind the general public spat is that the Winklevii apparently requested Donald Trump to rethink the nomination of Quintenz.

Politico reported that “the brothers told the president that he should dump Quintenz, a former commissioner at the agency with close industry ties, saying that he wouldn’t shake up the CFTC enough.”

What seems to have occurred as a substitute, is that the Winklevii made a request that, whereas not ensured, was additionally not ignored.

Neither the Winklevii telling Donald Trump to droop Quintenz’s nomination nor the messages shared by Quintenz publicly seem to indicate something unlawful.

Nonetheless, the soiled laundry places Trump in a tough place: Quintenz works for a16z and founder Marc Andreessen will not be solely a powerful monetary supporter of Trump, but in addition a private advisor.

The Winklevii, in the meantime, are boisterous, loud monetary supporters of Trump with a retail-facing enterprise.

As of writing, each the Winklevii and President Trump haven’t responded to Quintenz’s launch of personal Sign messages exchanged with the billionaire twins, however this text might be up to date if and once they do.
