LANSING, (Mich.) WLNS — Chook flu continues to unfold across the state and a few lifeless birds have sat round a pond in Williamston for weeks. So, why haven’t they been moved, and does the D.N.R. have sufficient individuals to correctly monitor the illness?

Michigan D.N.R. spokesperson Caitie O’neill stated they’ve sufficient assets to get the job finished.

“The D.N.R. has limited resources, but we do have enough resources to test the birds and the animals that we need to test to confirm where this disease is present…” stated O’neill.

Michigan State College performs the exams for the D.N.R. and stated there’s no scarcity of assets obtainable.

“We have ramped up that testing to be everyday testing, we’re often there on nights and weekends as needed, to respond to critical cases…” stated Dr. Kimberly Dodd, the Dean of the Michigan State School of Veterinary Drugs.
