Clinton County officers warn of electronic mail rip-off

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Clinton County officers are warning residents of an electronic mail rip-off.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Division warned of the rip-off in a social media submit Friday. The scammers, officers report, ship an bill that seems to be an official bill from the county’s Planning and Zoning Division.

“These emails appear legitimate, but they are not from the Planning and Zoning Department,” the company wrote on Fb. “The Planning and Zoning Department does NOT request payments via email, wire transfer, or prepaid cards of any type.”

Clinton County officers say this can be a faux bill despatched by scammers to native residents. They ask anybody receiving the e-mail and bill to name 911 so a report might be taken. Officers ask anybody receiving the e-mail to name 911 and a deputy might be dispatched to take a report.

The company can be reminding individuals to confirm the official showing emails by checking the e-mail deal with the bill is coming from and to confirm the billing and fee strategies earlier than submitting fee.
