Counter terror police are assessing a video reported to be from a live performance by Irish rappers Kneecap.
A social media clip of the hip hop trio on stage appeared to indicate one member of the group shout “up Hamas, up Hezbollah”.
The footage was posted on-line by Danny Morris from the Jewish safety charity, the Neighborhood Safety Belief.
He stated it was from a gig final November at London’s Kentish City Discussion board.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson stated: “We have been made aware of the video and it has been referred to the counter terrorism internet referral unit for assessment and to determine whether any further police investigation may be required.”
Hamas and Hezbollah are each proscribed as terrorist teams within the UK. Below Part 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000, it’s an offence to specific “an opinion or belief that is supportive of a proscribed organisation”.
It comes after TV persona Sharon Osbourne known as for Kneecap’s US work visas to be revoked after accusing them of constructing “aggressive political statements” together with “projections of anti-Israel messages and hate speech” at Coachella Music and Arts Competition.
In November final yr, Kneecap gained a discrimination case towards the UK authorities after former enterprise secretary Kemi Badenoch refused them funding.
