LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Customs and Border Safety officers confirmed Tuesday that 3 individuals who had been within the nation unlawfully had been arrested in Meridian Township final week.

A spokesman for CPB advised 6 Information by e-mail:

U.S. Customs and Border Safety officers carried out a focused enforcement operation close to Okemos on Oct. 9, apprehending a 47-year-old unlawful alien from India who had abandoned a cruise ship in 2022 the place he was employed. Throughout the operation, CBP officers additionally apprehended two extra unlawful aliens—a 39-year-old man from India and 30-year-old man from Mexico who had been discovered to be residing illegally on the identical tackle. All three people had been transported to close by DHS amenities and enrolled in removing proceedings.

The operation was first reported as an Immigration and Customs Enforcement motion on Thursday. However ICE officers denied they had been the enforcement company on the operation and referred inquiries to CPB.

Meridian Township officers mentioned they a “miscommunication” led them to tell the general public that ICE was working locally.
