Dalai Lama says his successor to be born exterior China

The Dalai Lama has mentioned his successor as non secular chief of Tibetan Buddhism will likely be born exterior China, risking the anger of Beijing.

In a brand new e book printed on Tuesday, the 89-year-old reversed his earlier place that he could be the final within the line of non secular leaders.

It is the primary time the Dalai Lama, who fled the Himalayan nation in 1959 after a failed rebellion in opposition to Chinese language rule, has said his successor could be born within the “free world”, which means exterior China.

He has beforehand mentioned solely that he may reincarnate exterior Tibet, presumably in India the place he lives in exile.

In Voice for the Unvoiced, which was reviewed by Reuters, he writes that Tibetans worldwide need the establishment of the Dalai Lama to hold on after his loss of life.

“Since the purpose of a reincarnation is to carry on the work of the predecessor, the new Dalai Lama will be born in the free world so that the traditional mission of the Dalai Lama – that is, to be the voice for universal compassion, the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, and the symbol of Tibet embodying the aspirations of the Tibetan people – will continue,” he writes.

His homeland, he writes, stays “in the grip of repressive Communist Chinese rule” and that the marketing campaign for the liberty of the Tibetan individuals will proceed “no matter what”, even after his loss of life.

“The right of the Tibetan people to be the custodians of their own homeland cannot be indefinitely denied, nor can their aspiration for freedom be crushed forever through oppression.

“One clear lesson we all know from historical past is that this: Should you hold individuals completely sad, you can not have a stablesociety.”

Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, gained the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 for preserving the Tibetan trigger alive.

However Beijing has dismissed him as a “separatist”, who, in line with a overseas ministry spokesperson, has “no right to represent the Tibetan people at all”.

Requested in regards to the e book on Tuesday, Mao Ning informed reporters: “The lineage of the Dalai Lama living Buddha was formed and developed in China’s Tibet, and his religious status and name were also determined by (China’s) central government.”

Beijing has insisted it should select his successor, however the Dalai Lama has mentioned any Chinese language candidate wouldn’t be revered.
