Synth-pop musician Dave Ball, who was one half of the favored Nineteen Eighties band Gentle Cell, has died on the age of 66.
The digital musician, who, together with bandmate Marc Almond scored a UK primary with Tainted Love, died on Wednesday, simply days after finishing a brand new Gentle Cell album.
Almond, 68, described him as a “wonderfully brilliant musical genius”.
Paying tribute, he mentioned: “It is hard to write this, let alone process it, as Dave was in such a great place emotionally. He was focused and so happy with the new album that we literally completed only a few days ago…
“He’ll all the time be cherished by the Gentle Cell followers who love his music and his music and reminiscence will reside on. At any given second, somebody someplace on the planet might be getting pleasure from a Gentle Cell tune.
“Thank you Dave for being an immense part of my life and for the music you gave me. I wouldn’t be where I am without you.”
Forming within the late Nineteen Seventies, the duo have been pioneers of the synth-pop sound which might develop into common within the Nineteen Eighties, and have been finest identified for songs similar to their cowl of Gloria Jones’s Tainted Love, Say Hi there, Wave Goodbye, and Torch.
