Delta Twp. eyes property tax hike to cowl police prices

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Delta Township is finalizing a brand new contract with Eaton County for police providers, however prices are set to double from about $4 million to $8 million.

The present contract is ready to run out in September. Township officers have determined to conduct a particular tax evaluation moderately than a millage vote resulting from time constraints and desires.

The particular evaluation wouldn’t require voter approval on the poll field. Property taxes would enhance by 1.5 mills to cowl these doubled prices, leading to $150 per $100,000 of property worth.
