Detroit police officer killed in off-duty hit-and-run crash

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A Detroit police officer has died after a hit-and-run crash that occurred Sunday night time.

32-year-old officer Cameron Richardson was driving residence from work when a van took an improper flip and rolled over onto his automobile on the intersection of Greiner St. and Hoover St. close to 7 Mile Rd.

“It is with a heavy heart that I bring this community briefing, earlier this morning the City of Detroit lost one of Detroit’s finest,” mentioned Interim Police Chief Todd Bettison.

Richardson leaves behind two daughters, ages 12 and 14, and his dad and mom John and Mona.

He labored on the Division for round a yr. Chief Bettison described Richardson as a humble servant and a great household man.

Michigan State Police discovered the suspect’s car a brief distance from the crash. Officers executed two search warrants and recognized the 2 individuals contained in the van.
