Dozens hit the monitor at Jackson Speedway

JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) — The Jackson Speedway was crammed with drivers Sunday because the Mid-Michigan Drift Membership introduced dozens of individuals out for a day filled with motion.

Whether or not it is the pace of the vehicles or the loud revving of the engine, drifting is a one-of-a-kind sport that retains drivers on their toes.

“What gets me here is the adrenaline rush. That’s something I’ve had kind of be apart of my life for a really long time,” mentioned Ty Searle.

Searle made the journey from Ontario, Canada, to float with the Michiganders.

He provides that though he enjoys the joys of the game, it’s the neighborhood that retains him going.

“You know if a guy needs a car part. Tool or a set of tires. Someone in this sport is gonna help you,” mentioned Searle.

Damion and Brodi Vitt, two brothers from Ohio, grew up watching the game on YouTube and say it has been a ardour for them ever since.

“Really all it took was one event, and then I was hooked. Got in the car with him when he started two years ago,” mentioned Brodi.

“Gotta block that part out in your head about crashing the cars, and you just gotta let muscle memory take over and let your instincts kick in,” added Damion.

Occasion organizer Brad Millican says the game is rising exponentially.

“Couple of years ago we really didn’t have too much drifting left in the state. People were diving five to six hours in order to try to drive, and when we built this, and put this together. The idea was to bring it back to Michigan. Not just Jackson, but Michigan. So, that locals had a place to drive.”

“It’s a showman sport. It’s loud, it’s exciting. There’s some fun ot be had driving as close as you can to a friend of yours, and sometimes a stranger,” added Millican.

The thrill of the occasion is what makes Searle hit the monitor each likelihood he will get: “We’re all here to have a great time, and get better at what we do.”
