
LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Making a change in the neighborhood was the theme for Sunday’s forty second annual Crop Starvation Stroll.
Strolling is a straightforward process, so why not do it with a goal?
That’s what two dozen Michiganders did this afternoon, together with serving to elevate funds to assist native meals pantries on the forty second Annual Crop Starvation Stroll.
Barb Myckowik and Joanne Williams, Co-Leaders of the Charlotte Space Crop Starvation Stroll, say 25% of the funding they elevate goes to a few completely different native organizations: Serving to Fingers Meals Pantry, Siren Shelter, and St. Vincent De Paul.
Williams says the remaining will go to CROP, a global group.
“There’s a lot want there,” stated Barb Myockowik. “It’s just amazing that in this land of plenty, and so many people are still hurting and needing, and we’re just so happy that we can do a little bit to help these folks.”
“We raise about $20,000 in this area itself,” said Joanne Williams. “We’re talking about a dozen churches and people that you see here today ready to give their feet and their pocketbooks to their neighbors.”
Lin Dietz, a participant, says she raised $100 along with her sponsors and encourages everybody to become involved inside their group to see a distinction.
“It makes you are feeling good that you simply’re serving to and doing one thing apart from sitting in a chair someplace,” stated Lin Dietz.
That’s why Myckowik and Williams will proceed their mission to verify nobody of their group goes hungry.
“It does take a village, and every year we look for people to join us,” said Williams. “We actually all year long plan, and then for the last couple of months work on getting this walk together.”
