LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Voters in Eaton County have stated “No” to a millage tax proposal in yesterday’s election. The proposal was defeated with 51.7% of voters saying no and 48.3% saying sure.

After a monetary assessment discovered the county was dealing with an estimated $26 million price range deficit by the 2026 fiscal 12 months, the County Fee requested voters for a property tax improve via raised millages.

Voters had been requested to approve a 3-mill property tax improve. In September, Eaton County Communications Director Logan Bailey stated the rise interprets to $18 a month or $216 a 12 months on the common property tax invoice.

Because the millage proposal did not precisely go as deliberate, officers advised 6 Information in September that the implications would dramatically reshape the companies and actions the county can provide.
