Ed Davey aiming for Christmas primary with tune celebrating younger carers

Liberal Democrat chief Sir Ed Davey has launched a charity single in an try to assert the Christmas primary spot.

Sir Ed has launched the tune in affiliation with Tub Philharmonia’s Younger Carers’ Choir, and it celebrates the work of younger those who act as carers.

The Liberal Democrat chief himself was a younger carer for his mom – who died when he was in his mid-teens. His father had died when Sir Ed was 4.

Saying the one – titled Love Is Sufficient – Sir Ed spoke of his time within the choir, together with singing a solo at a Christmas carol service in 1978 as a 13-year-old.

The MP mentioned: “After I sang ‘In The Bleak Midwinter’ in my native church in 1978, neither I nor my brothers nor my mum absolutely appreciated how a lot our lives have been all about to vary.

“For mum’s cancer was getting worse and I was becoming a young carer.

“The subsequent two and a half years earlier than my mom finally died have been extraordinarily robust, however they have been additionally full of affection.

“When I heard the opening lyrics to Love Is Enough – ‘every second we have left is worth a thousand others’ – they struck home and meant so much.

“It was a pleasure to spend time with this superb group of younger carers, to see their unbelievable abilities, vitality and love.”

Sir Ed added: “With the wonderful Bath Philharmonia, they have created something that I’m sure will strike a chord not only with other young carers – often invisible in our communities – but also with all carers and families.

“I hope folks hearken to this tune and obtain it and are as impressed as I’m by the superb expertise of those younger carers.

“I hope people take some time this Christmas to think about this amazing group of people who look after their loved ones from such an early age. This time of year is tough for all carers, particularly young ones – let’s put them in the spotlight.”

The tune was written by six younger carers and former younger carers, and is a “tribute to the caring responsibilities of young carers and the bond they share with the people they care for”.

All cash raised from downloads and streams of the charity single will go to the Carers Belief and Tub Philharmonia.

Jason Thornton, the music director of Tub Philharmonia, mentioned: “At Bath Phil, we believe every young person has a story to tell, regardless of where they are on their musical journey.

“When creating Love Is Sufficient, the younger carers shared a profound message: love is in all places, even when it is taken with no consideration. They wished to remind us all that, regardless of who or the place you might be, there may be at all times somebody on the market for you.

“Ed Davey, drawing on his own lived experience as a young carer, has shown these remarkable young people that they are seen, valued, and not alone.”
