Elm Road bridge will get federal funding for alternative

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A piece of a $34 million federal bridge funding program grant will fund the alternative of the East Elm St. bridge over the Purple Cedar River in south Lansing. Building is predicted to begin in 2026.

A launch from the Michigan Division of Transportation says the bridge will likely be changed to revive its load-carrying capability to accommodate bigger freight automobiles for companies such because the close by Grand River Meeting Plant.

“Today’s announcement is just one more example of how infrastructure funding is making a difference for our communities,” mentioned State Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-7). “Repairing and rebuilding our bridges will help Michiganders get to work, school, or elsewhere and have a smooth and safe ride while doing it.”

This challenge is a part of MDOT’s Native Company Bridge Bundle program, an initiative to restore and broaden Michigan’s bridge system to drive financial improvement within the state.

Bridge bundling packages a number of bridge tasks below a single contract, is finished in an try to streamline coordination and allowing, and improves bridge circumstances on native routes across the state.

Fraser Road bridge over the Kawkawlin River in Bay County

Plymouth Street bridge over Fleming Creek in Washtenaw County

Beck Street bridge over the Johnson Drain in Wayne County

Sashabaw Street bridge over the Clinton River in Oakland County

West Spring Lake Street bridge over the Smith Bayou within the metropolis of Ferrysburg
