FDA remembers 26K packages of shrimp attributable to radioactive risk

(NewsNation) — The U.S. Meals and Drug Administration has introduced one other recall of frozen shrimp bought at Walmart, citing potential contamination with cesium-137, a radioactive isotope.

This marks the third shrimp recall this month tied to imports from Indonesia.

Based on the FDA, cesium may be current within the setting at low ranges. Nonetheless, repeated publicity by way of contaminated meals or water could result in an “elevated risk of cancer, resulting from damage to DNA within living cells of the body.”

The newest recall includes 26,460 six-ounce packages of AquaStar Corp. cocktail shrimp, bought in Walmart shops between July 31 and August 16, 2025. They have been bought throughout Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin.

The product was refrigerated, with a 12-day shelf life, and packaged in a transparent plastic tray with a crimson and white label. Recalled gadgets have a UPC of 19434612191 and the next lot codes: 10662 5106, 10662 5107, 10662 5124, and 10662 5125.

To this point, no diseases have been reported.

The FDA advises shoppers to not eat the recalled shrimp and as an alternative return it to Walmart for a full refund or discard it. AquaStar may be reached at 1-800-331-3440 Monday by way of Friday, 8 a.m. to five p.m. PT.

Simply final week, Walmart pulled three numerous its Nice Worth frozen shrimp after federal officers detected Cesium-137 in transport containers and a pattern of breaded shrimp imported from Indonesia.
