Felony fees issued following 'disruptive' weekend in East Lansing

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Ingham County Prosecutor’s Workplace has filed a number of felony fees in opposition to a 21-year-old man following what East Lansing Police Chief Jen Brown known as a weekend of “disruptive incidents.”

The workplace reviews that Nathan Leslie Warner, a 21-year-old man from Lansing, has been charged with one depend of felonious assault and one depend of carrying a hid weapon following an “incident with a knife” on the Ann Road Plaza on the evening of August 23.

East Lansing police chief releases assertion on ‘disruptive’ weekend

Warner was arraigned on August 25 within the 54B District Court docket in East Lansing and was launched on a $2,500 bond.

His possible trigger convention is scheduled for September 9, and the preliminary examination is scheduled for September 11.

Ingham County Prosecutor John Dewane and East Lansing Police Chief Jennifer Brown have issued the next assertion:

“Pursuant to Michigan Guidelines of Skilled Conduct 3.6 and three.8, we should defend the rights of the accused to have a good trial. We’re at the moment reviewing what video footage and different info, if any, will be launched with out jeopardizing these rights, ongoing investigations, or the prosecution of instances associated to the occasions of final weekend,” stated

Chief Brown reported on Monday that the incidents led to a number of arrests, together with the Saturday arrest of two individuals “wielding” knives.

Brown says the weekend was “very busy,” and that some movies taken by these within the space and posted to social media present massive crowds being dispersed by officers within the downtown space.

Brown says these crowds have been dispersed after fights broke out, which posed a hazard to the general public.

As a consequence of these incidents, Brown says ELPD known as for help from the Michigan State College Division of Police and Public Security, Meridian Township Police Division, and Tub Township Police Division.
