The Michigan Division of Pure Assets (MDNR) says the hearth is positioned close to Houghton Lake in Roscommon County. The hearth was first reported early Sunday afternoon east of Outdated U.S. Freeway 27, close to the Clare–Roscommon county line.
The hearth is estimated to be round 85 acres in a marshy space of combined pine and hardwood forest.
