Fireplace breaks out at Customers Power facility

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Firefighters are battling {an electrical} transformer fireplace at a Customers Power plant in Bay County.

WNEM studies that the fireplace started shortly after 1:00 p.m. on Feb. 17 on the Customers Power D.E. Karn Producing Complicated situated on Weadock Freeway.

Customers Power spokesperson Tracey Wimmer advised WNEM that the fireplace was brought on by {an electrical} transformer exterior of the ability, however the fireplace unfold to close by buildings. She stated the fireplace created a big quantity of smoke.

Mineral oil has been spilled as a result of fireplace, however Wimmer says it doesn’t pose a security threat to the general public or these preventing the inferno.

WNEM studies all personnel have been evacuated and are secure.

Hampton Township Supervisor Terri Closetold advised WNEM that one firefighter suffered a minor harm. He has since been handled and went again to preventing the fireplace.

No different accidents have been reported.
