Former Detroit pastor sentenced for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A former pastor of the Higher New Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit was sentenced to 4-15 years in jail for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old boy.

The previous pastor is 64-year-old Kenneth Flowers from Farmington Hills. The Oakland County Prosecutor says he assaulted the 17-year-old at his house in December 2023.

In April, Flowers pleaded to 2 counts of legal sexual conduct within the third diploma.

“Today’s sentence means that Kenneth Flowers is being held accountable for his actions,” Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald stated in a information launch despatched to six Information. “Our focus throughout the process was providing a just outcome for the victim.”

As a part of his sentence, Flowers is required to register with the Michigan Intercourse Offender Registry.
