A former Premier League footballer has been jailed for 20 years for bribery, Chinese language state media has reported.
Li Tie, who performed in midfield for Everton greater than 30 instances between 2002 and 2006, went on to handle the China nationwide group between January 2020 and December 2021.
It’s alleged the 47-year-old acquired bribes of greater than 50 million yuan (£5.4m).
He was discovered responsible of “leveraging his positions” as head coach of the nationwide soccer and nationwide choice groups by a court docket within the metropolis of Xianning.
Li Tie was additionally charged with taking bribes between 2015 and 2019 whereas working for native soccer golf equipment.
He pleaded responsible to bribery and corruption in March following an investigation which started in November 2022.
