From Hell to Paradise: PTSD bike experience honors fallen Ovid pre-teen

From Hell to Paradise: PTSD bike experience honors fallen Ovid pre-teen

OVID, Mich. (WLNS) — The second annual American Legion Riders Hell to Paradise PTSD Consciousness Journey took off this morning. The two-day experience brings consciousness and funding for Mission 22 service canines and Kamp George.

The experience took off this morning at Smitty’s Hell Saloon in Pinckney at 9 a.m.

The experience’s first cease in Ovid was round 10:30 a.m. the place riders paid their respects to London Gadd, a 12-year-old woman from the city who died by suicide final 12 months. Her mother stated social media impacted her psychological well being.

“I just want people to be aware of how harmful social media can be,” London’s mother Charay stated. “It poisoned her. We had forensics go through her social media accounts and they actually found that when she would search benign subjects like alligator skin boots … they were sending her harmful content.”

Charay stated American Legion is recognizing veterans who are suffering with PTSD.

“Last year, they reached out to us,” Charay Gadd stated. “We got married in Paradise on our property and we stood in the middle of the road and they rode around us. They heard what happened to London and they reached out and were so genuine and just wonderful.”

Based on her obituary, London performed soccer, was an avid fan of studying and cherished children. Her household stated she dreamed of becoming a member of the Air Pressure and wished to be a pilot.

Following the cease in Ovid, riders will make stops in Alma, Clare, Grayling and at last arrive in Gaylord round 4:15 p.m. A cease is scheduled each hour with 90 minutes between gasoline stops.

Tomorrow (July 26), riders will hit the street at 8 a.m. and head in the direction of the Mackinac Bridge. Their first cease can be in St. Ignace adopted by arrival in Paradise the place they’re anticipated to reach on the neighborhood focus on 11:30 a.m.
