Furnishings retailer proprietor suspects small fireplace was set deliberately 

DELTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLNS) — Finest Furnishings Outlet proprietor Ehab Awad says a person purposefully tried to burn his Delta Township retailer down. 

Awad says surveillance video exhibits {that a} man walks over to his retailer and begins a fireplace on Wednesday evening. A path of burn marks left from the hearth might nonetheless be seen on the sidewalk Friday.

The proprietor says he acquired a name from first responders that the entrance a part of his retailer was on fireplace. 

“So, he came in from the west side of W Saginaw Highway, coming down the street into right directly into our stores, in which he came in directly in here,” said Awad. “Did something right in the middle of the entrance and then just lit up the whole thing on fire. And we’re talking a fire that was 9 foot tall as well, right?”

Awad says he feels as if the assault was intentional and private.

“We definitely understand that us being a minority, it might have something to do with it,” said Awad. “But again, when it becomes to love and supporting each other as a community, the city that we call home, I don’t think any tone of color should matter.”

Yoandy Ortiz, Normal Supervisor of Finest Furnishings Shops, agrees. 

“I do believe that it was definitely targeted towards what we believe here as Best Furniture Outlet,” said Ortiz. “We now have by no means had this type of incident ever earlier than. Finest Furnishings Outlet is an organization that has at all times been giving again to their group.”

Awad says after the hearth, he made a publish on Fb and says the group response has been nothing however constructive.

Awad says the perpetrator hasn’t been caught but and provides that he’s filed a police report with Delta Township.
