GCSE outcomes to be launched digitally in government-backed pilot

A government-backed trial will take examination outcomes digital, however some say this might “take away a rite of passage”.

The Training File app will substitute paper GCSE information to offer college students with digital examination information they’ll use to use for faculty, apprenticeships, or jobs.

Round 95,000 12 months 11 pupils would be the first to trial the scheme, throughout Larger Manchester and the West Midlands.

Mixed, round 850,000 to 930,000 college students sit GCSE and A-level exams every summer season in England. And between them they’ll undertake 6.5 to 7.5 million exams.

Often, the outcomes of those exams are despatched to varsities, and college students are requested to gather them.

In a transfer to take the method into the twenty first century, the outcomes app launch comes as the federal government ramps up reforms throughout post-16 schooling.

Mark Giles, principal on the Hathershaw School faculty, mentioned: “We believe this will reduce administrative burdens on schools.

“Sooner or later is also utilised by dad and mom of youthful kids to assist transition from major to secondary faculty.”

Faculties typically will present assist and steerage for these college students who might have missed their college provides or not achieved their predicted grades.

Mr Cronin mentioned: “Young people need to talk in real life to people. Having them on an app just brings more of their lives online also.”

Stephen Morgan, schooling minister, mentioned: “It is high time exam records were brought into the 21st century, and this pilot will allow schools and colleges to focus on what they do best: teaching the next generation rather than being bogged down in bureaucracy.”

The federal government estimates the £30m annual saving may very well be reinvested to fund over 600 new lecturers in additional schooling.
