Goal cookies recalled in Michigan, 19 different states over contamination with ‘foreign material’

(NEXSTAR) – Greater than 12,000 packages of sugar cookies bought at Goal have been categorized below a Class II recall by the Meals and Drug Administration (FDA) over potential contamination with a “foreign material.”

The recall involved 10-count packages of Favourite Day Bakery Frosted Sugar Cookies produced by the Give and Go Ready Meals Corp of Etobicoke, Canada, in accordance with the FDA. The explanation for the recall was listed as “foreign material (wood).”

Representatives for Goal, Give & Go or the FDA weren’t instantly accessible to substantiate whether or not there had been any studies of accidents.

Give and Go first initiated the recall on July 22, 2025. On Aug. 4, the FDA categorized the recall as a Class II, that means using the recalled product “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences,” even when “the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

The FDA additionally confirmed the cookies had been shipped to distribution facilities in three states — Connecticut, Maryland and Ohio — and bought at stores in 20 states and DC: Connecticut, Washington DC, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Virginia and Vermont.

The cookies may be recognized by the UPC  85239-41250 and the lot quantity 25195. The “best by” dates on the recalled objects “can vary as they are applied by retailer when removed from freezer,” in accordance with the FDA.
