Gov. Whitmer points assertion relating to Trump tariffs

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer issued the next assertion on Trump tariffs. Whitmer says these tariffs would improve the prices of products and providers for folks throughout the state.

Michiganders are already fighting excessive prices—the very last thing they want is for these prices to extend much more. A 25 % tariff will harm American auto staff and customers, increase costs on vehicles, groceries, and power for working households and put numerous jobs in danger. Trump’s middle-class tax hike will cripple our financial system and hit working-class, blue-collar households particularly onerous.

As a result of firms go tariff prices on to the customers, Trump’s middle-class tax hike will imply Michigan households pay extra to warmth their properties as they face under freezing temperatures, fill their gasoline tanks, and get reasonably priced housing at a time when inflation is already excessive. It’ll hurt our auto business, driving up the price of vehicles and slowing manufacturing strains.

I’m pleased with the progress we now have made in Michigan to deliver provide chains house, develop auto manufacturing, and guarantee Michigan’s gifted staff construct the way forward for vehicles and parts. I’ll be glad to work with him, and anybody, to guard Michigan’s auto manufacturing, decrease prices, and combat for Michigan’s working households
