Historic al Nuri mosque reopens eight years after it was destroyed by IS

Along with the mosque, war-damaged church buildings have been rebuilt as a part of the reconstruction mission, aiming to protect the heritage of the town’s shrinking Christian inhabitants.

Mr Sudani mentioned Mosul embraces all of its communities and “embodies all the characteristics of Iraq’s diverse society”.
