GRAND LEDGE, Mich. (WLNS) — The Grand Ledge Opera Home suffered from a pipe burst final Sunday, flooding the constructing and abandoning horrible water harm. 

Nancy Harvey, the opera home’s govt director, says she obtained a name concerning the flooding instantly after it exploded. 

“The water, it started in the attic. So, then the water came through the grand hall, in the walls,” said Harvey. “Down to the terrace level, and we literally had two inches of standing water in the terrace level.”

She says it’s nonetheless early within the course of, however the opera home hopes to re-open in Could. 

Harvey says the pipes froze as a result of chilly climate. 

“And then over the weekend it thawed out, and this pipe burst, and it was in the attic, and it’s what caused the damage,” said Harvey. “It’s a part of our fire suppression system. So, it was under pressure.”  

Harvey says the prices of injury are too early to know. 

“There’s possible $250,000 to $500,000 price of injury,” mentioned Harvey. 

Because of the flooding, the Opera Home needed to cancel appointments. 

 “We’ve had about 40, over 40 events we’ve had to cancel,” said Harvey. “The daddy-daughter dance for the school. The mother-son dance. Bridal showers.”

The neighborhood of Grand Ledge has been with the Opera Home each step of the way in which. 

“We are very grateful,” mentioned Harvey. “We’re especially grateful for the immediate response from Grand Ledge Fire Department.”
