Historic Preservation Workplace awards grants to Mid-Michigan communities

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Michigan State Historic Preservation Workplace (SHPO) has awarded $250,000 in grants to 6 Michigan communities, together with East Lansing and Mason.

The grants have been awarded as a part of the federal Historic Preservation Fund (HPF), a Licensed Native Authorities (CLG) program administered by the SHPO that can profit native preservation efforts.

SHPO reviews that the CLG program is a partnership amongst native, state, and nationwide governments targeted on selling historic preservation on the group degree.

“The Certified Local Government program continues to be one of the strongest tools for supporting historic preservation projects at the local level,” stated State Historic Preservation Officer Ryan M. Schumaker in a information launch despatched to six Information.

Metropolis of East Lansing

Metropolis of Mason

The library is now listed within the Nationwide Register of Historic Locations as a part of Mason’s downtown historic district.
