CHESTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A St. Patrick’s Day parade spanned 1 / 4 mile Monday.
Billed because the “world’s shortest St. Patrick’s Day parade,” dancers, fiddle gamers, canine and others donning inexperienced made their means down Conklin’s Important Avenue, beginning on the intersection of Important Avenue and Miller Avenue and ending on the Conklin Bar.
The parade stepped off at 10:55 a.m.. It lasted about 5 minutes.

The annual custom dates again to 1989, when, in accordance with native legend, the bar’s proprietor walked down Important Avenue with an Irish flag. In response to custom, the parade is supposed to run two blocks, however contributors “give up” once they get to Conklin Bar in order that they’ll go in for a pint.
Following the parade, the Conklin Bar hosted a celebration with dwell music and loads of beer.

West Michigan celebrates St. Patrick’s Day weekend
The celebration attracted folks like Jean Maki, who’s simply shy of 100 years previous and returned to her hometown to see the parade and to go to along with her sister-in-law, 95-year-old Maxine Van Dyke. The duo had been carrying matching inexperienced hats for the event.
Maki mentioned she loves visiting Conklin and seeing the village the place she grew up.
Her sister-in-law mentioned they all the time sit up for the quick parade.
“(I) enjoy it,” she mentioned. “Got my sister-in-law here, that’s all life is.”
