Jackson Board of Schooling removes its vp

JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) — The Jackson Board of Schooling voted 6-1 Tuedsay to take away its vp, Derek Dobies, from his place because of an addition he made to the language of the brand new superintendent’s contract, and make him ineligible for any board workplace for the rest of his time period.

“At minimum, we as board members, we are never to place ourselves in a position, one where you know, the appearances could look like we are potentially gaining something from a vote that’s in our favor,” mentioned Jackson Public Colleges Board Trustee Kesha Hamilton.

The Board chosen Treasurer Marilyn Acton to serve in his place, and a brand new treasurer might be chosen throughout the subsequent board assembly on July 22.

All board trustees apart from Dobies voted in favor of the transfer, and Hamilton says this determination protects JPS from potential litigation.
