Jackson County Sheriff warns of impersonation rip-off

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — In case you get a name from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Workplace, watch out—it is perhaps a rip-off.

In response to police, residents of Jackson County have been contacted by a scammer claiming to be Eric Battles and Lt. Gibbs from the sheriff’s workplace.

The scammer would inform these victims that they’ve missed jury responsibility and try to get them to pay cash as a penalty from the court docket.

The sheriff’s workplace says it is a rip-off. No members of regulation enforcement will contact you and ask for cash.

In case you obtain a name like this, you’re inspired to contact your native regulation enforcement.
