JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) — The primary state jail’s armory constructing is getting a brand new life — as a farmers market.

Thanks partially to a $580,000 grant from the Michigan Division of Pure Assets, the nonprofit Develop Jackson and the county’s parks division are turning the house right into a group marketplace for all farmers to develop and households to construct.

“The farmers will keep 70%, we’ll keep 30% for operations, and this allows farmers to sell their product without having to go sit at market, but still retain the farmers market to have those community connections and relationships,” Inosencio mentioned.

“I think it’s a great idea. I personally couldn’t do it. I’ve already got my hands full, but I think it’s great to bring more fresh to Jackson. We can’t bring enough,” Williams mentioned.
