Jackson transportation officers launch initiative to repair the roads

Jackson transportation officers launch initiative to repair the roads

JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) — Jackson County transportation officers are planning to launch a “Safe Streets and Roads for All” initiative aimed toward fixing the roads and saving lives.

The initiative comes after the Jackson Division of Transportation (JDOT) just lately acquired a federal grant to assessment all of the roads within the county with a purpose to develop a method to make journey safer and extra environment friendly.

“It will definitely be able to address some of the road concerns, fixing some of the roads, which is an initiative, I know JDOT is working heavily on right now,” mentioned Jackson Transportation Authority (JATA) Authorities and Neighborhood Relations Supervisor Hunter Causie. “JDOT is working very diligently to make our roads as safe and efficient as possible.”

Causie says the initiative’s security motion plan will deal with which streets want consideration however provides resident suggestions is a big a part of the answer.

Dena Morgan is a group advocate and has lived in Jackson her total life. She says the roads have not modified in many years and automobile repairs for residents have solely worsened.

“We cannot function without it. A lot of roads would not be fixed without it. There would be, I mean, we would be on dirt roads a lot of the time without that federal funding,” Causie mentioned.
