JD Wyatt scores 35 factors to ship Solar Valley Poly into Metropolis Part Division I remaining

JD Wyatt was 7 and sitting on the bench when his father, Joe, guided El Camino Actual to a shocking, two-point win over Westchester and Corridor of Fame coach Ed Azzam within the 2014 Metropolis Part Division I championship recreation, placing an exclamation mark on his first season as coach after taking on for David Rebibo.

The son is now an 18-year-old senior at Solar Valley Poly, and what a efficiency he turned in Wednesday evening, scoring 35 factors to raise Poly previous top-seeded Granada Hills 66-53 within the Metropolis Part Division I semifinals. No. 5-seeded Poly will meet East Valley League rival Grant within the remaining Saturday at 4 p.m. at Pasadena Metropolis School. Grant defeat L.A. Jordan 64-62.

JD was enjoying for his father when Joe was dismissed by El Camino Actual in 2022, leaving the household in turmoil. JD transferred and so they each ended up at Poly and began over. Now JD and the Parrots (22-9), coached by Joe, will play for a Metropolis title.

“It means a lot,” JD mentioned after the victory. “I wanted this for him. I want this for my dad.”

Wyatt made two threes within the fourth quarter to halt a Granada Hills comeback bid. Quian Khawaja scored 17 factors to assist him.Julius Washington led Granada Hills with 18 factors.

Grant superior to the ultimate when Andrew Berry made a layup with 4 seconds left in opposition to Jordan. Grant misplaced twice to Poly in East Valley League play. Champ Merrill scored 29 factors.

Wyatt has been sensational this season, averaging 28.4 factors. He and his father embraced after the sport, realizing they want yet another win to get their Metropolis title.
