It was put to him that his time as Labour leader resulted in the party’s worst election defeat in decades, and ministers may say if he is unhappy then they are doing something right.

But Mr Corbyn said if Sir Keir “cared to look once more on the manifesto on which he stood” in 2019 there was a “clear plan” to handle homelessness, hire ranges and poverty in society.

He mentioned the prime minister appears to have “distanced himself” from these insurance policies these days, however wouldn’t be drawn on whether or not he thought he was a chameleon.

Mr Corbyn mentioned: “There’s a lot of chameleons in parliament. It is about how a government should approach the society we’re living in.

“Should you’re content material with the degrees of poverty… that is your view. I am not. I do not imagine most Labour MPs are pleased with that. So they need to acknowledge that that is their alternative to do one thing basic. It appears to me they’re attempting to cross the buck.”
