LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — This week, Waterford College Board Trustee John Paul Torres introduced he’s searching for the Democratic nomination for Michigan’s eleventh Congressional District seat.
The seat is presently held by Haley Stevens (D-Birmingham), who’s searching for the nomination for U.S. Senate when Gary Peters retires.
Torres is positioning his marketing campaign as a baby of immigrants and a “fighter.”
“My parents taught me when you see something wrong, you fix it,” he mentioned in a marketing campaign video. “Don’t let anybody ever tell you this country isn’t yours. It’s all of ours.”
Torres joins a crowded Democratic area that features state Sen. Jeremy Moss (D-Bloomfield Township), Sterling Heights legal professional Aisha Farooqi and former Ford engineer Don Ufford of Bloomfield Township.
Stevens, in the meantime, is working in opposition to former Wayne County well being official Abdul El-Sayed of Ann Arbor and state Sen. Mallory McMorrow of Royal Oak for the U.S. Senate Democratic nomination.
