LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A number of fireplace departments rushed to the scene of a hearth on the former Michner Plating Facility in Jackson on Tuesday night. As of Wednesday night, the Jackson Fireplace Division says a juvenile is in police custody.

The Jackson Fireplace Division experiences that they responded to the ability at 6 p.m. Tuesday night, with the primary crews who arrived witnessing flames and heavy smoke coming from the entrance of the constructing.

Crews had been preventing the hearth till shortly after 10:00 p.m. They are saying no accidents had been reported.

In line with the town of Jackson, fireplace crews monitored the air high quality all through the response because of the website’s industrial historical past and potential hazards. Taking precautions, crews referred to as the Jackson County Emergency Operation Middle (EOC), which was assisted by representatives from the Environmental Safety Company (EPA).

After the hearth, the EPA and the Michigan Division of Surroundings, Nice Lakes, and Power (EGLE) carried out assessments of the scene to find out the potential environmental impacts of the hearth. They discovered no indicators of contamination or particles within the close by outfalls to the Grand River.

The fireplace division additionally says the constructing has been resecured after the incident.
