Kelan Logan-Derench: Boy, 5, drowned in swimming pool on Egypt vacation

A five-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool on a household vacation in Egypt, an inquest has heard.

Kelan Logan-Derench from Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, was discovered on the backside of a resort swimming pool in Cairo with out his armbands on 25 November final yr.

Birmingham and Solihull Coroner’s Court docket heard Kelan was pulled from the water and later died on the El Nile Hospital.

In a written inquest verdict, senior coroner Louise Hunt discovered that Kelan died because of an accident.

He was described by a household pal as a “cheeky, mischievous, happy little boy”.

Kelan was staying together with his household on the Mirette Resort in Hurghada, based on the file of inquest.

He was discovered at round 12.05pm and makes an attempt have been made to resuscitate him.

Drowning was recorded as his medical reason for loss of life.

A GoFundMe web page was organised by Serena Whitehead, a pal of Kelan’s mom, shortly after his loss of life.

Almost £20,000 was raised to cowl the price of returning his physique to the UK and to assist with funeral prices.

“Kelan was a cheeky, mischievous, happy little boy, he was a younger brother to Cienna and was about to become a big brother himself in February 2024,” Ms Whitehead wrote.

In keeping with the web page, Kelan died simply at some point after the beginning of his vacation together with his mom, sister and grandmother.
