Labour MP ‘deeply regrets’ feedback made on WhatsApp group – after well being minister sacked for remarks on identical chat

A Labour MP has mentioned he “deeply regrets” feedback made on a WhatsApp group – a day after well being minister Andrew Gwynne was sacked for leaked racist and sexist remarks posted on the identical chat.

In a press release on X, Burnley MP Oliver Ryan mentioned: “Between 2019 and early 2022, I used to be a member of a WhatsApp group created by my MP and former employer, Andrew Gwynne.

“Some of the comments made in that group were completely unacceptable, and I fully condemn them.

“I remorse not talking out on the time, and I recognise that failing to take action was incorrect. I didn’t see each message, however I settle for accountability for not being extra proactive in difficult what was mentioned.

“I additionally made some feedback myself which I deeply remorse and wouldn’t make at the moment and for that I wholeheartedly apologise.

“I will cooperate fully with the Labour Party’s investigation.”
