A Labour MP has stated he was concerned in an incident the place he “felt threatened” and is cooperating with police.
Mike Amesbury, the MP for Runcorn and Helsby, stated he felt “threatened on the street following an evening out with friends” on Friday night time in Cheshire.
“This morning, I contacted Cheshire Police myself to report what happened during this incident,” he added.
“I will not be making further public comment but will, of course, cooperate with any inquiries if required by Cheshire Police.
“I stay totally dedicated to working laborious for the individuals of Runcorn and Helsby, and am decided to stay an open and accessible MP for our neighborhood.”
Video of the incident seems to indicate Mr Amesbury standing over a person mendacity on the ground in Frodsham.
The MP tells the person “you won’t ever threaten me again” whereas pointing at him, earlier than saying: “Yes I am [the MP], yes I am, and you won’t threaten the MP ever again, will you?”
Cheshire Police stated officers had been referred to as at 2.48am to reviews of an assault in Frodsham.
“A caller reported he had been assaulted by a man in Main Street. Inquiries are ongoing.”
