A 17-year-old lady has been killed by a shark whereas swimming in Queensland, Australia.
Paramedics have been known as to the scene at Woorim Seaside, simply north of Brisbane, at about 4.45pm native time as they responded to a “serious shark bite incident”, the Queensland Ambulance Service mentioned on X.
No particulars on the shark have been launched but.
“It’s known there are a lot of sharks around Bribie, but this close to shore, it’s still a shock.”
Surf Life Saving Queensland mentioned in an announcement: “Woorim Beach will remain closed until further notice.”
It’s the second deadly shark assault in Queensland in simply over a month.
In December, a 40-year-old church pastor died when he was mauled by a shark whereas spearfishing off the coast of Central Queensland.
There are greater than 100 shark species residing in Queensland’s waters, in line with the state’s authorities web site.
“Shark bites in Queensland happen rarely and most shark species do not pose a risk to people,” the web site states.
