Lansing first responders hyperlink up with No Senior With out Christmas

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Christmas season is a time of pleasure for some, however a time of unhappiness for others. Wednesday, Lansing’s police and hearth departments did what they may to make sure that seniors have a particular Christmas.

First responders handed out 400 Christmas packages to aged folks in Eaton, Clinton, and Ingham counties.

It’s an effort that is been occurring for twenty-four years, and it’s all due to the non-profit group “No Senior Without Christmas.”

“A whole lot of these people are clearly, they’re senior residents however numerous them haven’t got numerous outreach from different organizations or from relations,” says Jason Stevens, the chairman of this non-profit. “And numerous them stay alone, and this is perhaps the one present they get for the 12 months.”

The packages are stuffed with meals and sturdy gadgets like blankets, in addition to a pleasant present, and Christie Chiles, an LPD officer who helped hand out packages, says it was an awesome success.

“It was great, people were really happy to see us and get some supplies to help them get through the holidays, so it was just really great to be out in the community and interacting with people and hopefully making their day a little bit better,” mentioned Chiles.

Stevens says the recipients of the packing containers are determined upon when an officer or firefighter notices their want when out on responsibility, and added that it is essential for first responders to have optimistic interactions with the neighborhood.

“The feedback we get is, you know, they look forward to the box every year, and it’s like a kid opening a Christmas box,” says Stevens.

The officers 6 Information rode together with had a good time handing out packages and greeting folks, and the seniors loved it too.
