Lansing launches clothes drive to help group in want

Lansing launches clothes drive to help group in want

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Lansing will host a clothes drive to offer new and calmly used winter coats, hats, and gloves to youngsters and adults locally, the town introduced Tuesday.

Merchandise assortment for the drive started this week and can run via Nov. 7, 2025. The gadgets can be given away at Group Join on November 20 on the Downtown CATA station.

“It’s hard to believe we’re already looking ahead to winter, but now is the time to prepare,” Lansing Mayor Andy Schor mentioned in a information launch. “I’m asking Lansing residents to help those in the most need by donating cold-weather outerwear. Whether there’s a coat in the back of your closet that no longer fits, or you can pick up an extra pair of gloves while shopping, making a donation is simple. We want every person to have the winter gear they need, and that can only happen when we all pitch in.”

Lansing Metropolis Corridor, 124 W. Michigan Ave.

Foster Group Middle, 200 N. Foster Ave.

Gier Group Middle, 2400 Corridor St.

Schmidt Group Middle, 5825 Sensible Rd.

Letts Group Middle, 1220 W. Kalamazoo St.

Maurer’s Sanitary Cleaners, 2815 E. Saginaw St.

New or gently used coats, hats, and gloves can be accepted, and all sizes are wanted. Donations might be dropped off within the giant container positioned exterior Lansing Metropolis Corridor, in addition to in bins in Lansing group facilities.

“Our coat drive stands as a significant reminder of the heat and dignity each particular person deserves,” said Kimberly Coleman, the director of Lansing’s Human Relations and Community Services department. “By coming collectively as a group, we will present not simply heat however hope and help to these dealing with homelessness. Each coat collected is a step towards serving to our neighbors in want, demonstrating that collectively, we will make a distinction.”
