LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)—In Lansing, early voting has begun, and whereas the adults have been out voting for presidential candidates. The youngsters have been capable of solid their very own ballots. 

The Lansing Metropolis Clerk’s Workplace and group organizations hosted their Souls to the Polls Trick-or-Deal with occasion Saturday afternoon. 

Sunshine Morgan-Mcintyre, a child voter, says the occasion gave her an opportunity to expertise what an actual election was like.

Chris Swope, Lansing Metropolis Clerk says they’d over 60 children and over 400 grownup voters on the Reo Election Workplace. 

“Voting is so important. It’s essential to our democracy,” said Swope. “So, anything we can do encourage both future voters and current voters. We want to do.” 

As the youngsters have been voting for sweet, the Reo Election Workplace was open for early voting, registration, and dropping off absentee ballots. 

Layla Swope, a first-time voter says this 2024 election is necessary to her. 

“I have a lot of family that can affected by some of the policies that are being debated,” said Layla Swope. “I was friends with a victim of the MSU shooting and I think that discussing gun laws, and safety around firearms is super important.”
