London Underground staff to strike subsequent month over pay, union says

Tube staff in London will strike subsequent month in a dispute over pay, two unions have introduced.

The strikes will happen from 1 to 16 November after members of each Aslef, the practice drivers’ union, and the RMT, representing most different Tube staff, rejected a pay provide from Transport for London (TfL).

London Underground drivers, instructors, managers, and engineers who’re Aslef members will strike throughout 4 days between 1 and 16 November.

Finn Brennan, Aslef’s London Underground organiser, stated: “We don’t want to go on strike – we don’t want to make travelling in and around the capital more difficult for passengers and we don’t want to lose a day’s pay – but we have been forced into this position because London Underground management won’t sit down properly and negotiate with us.”

He stated Transport for London’s (TfL) pay provide of three.8% plus a variable lump sum “means Underground drivers will stay on a lower salary than driver on other TfL services while working longer hours”.
