New York state choose Gregory Carro mentioned there was no proof that the killing of UnitedHealthcare (UHC) chief govt Brian Thompson amounted to a terrorist act.

In his written resolution, the choose mentioned that though the killing was not a case of unusual avenue crime, it didn’t meet the edge for terrorism below New York legislation.

“While the defendant was clearly expressing an animus toward UHC, and the healthcare industry generally, it does not follow that his goal was to ‘intimidate and coerce a civilian population’, and indeed, there was no evidence presented of such a goal,” Choose Carro wrote.

The terrorism fees carried a most sentence of life in jail.

Nonetheless, in addition to the case in New York state, Mangione can be going through separate federal homicide fees, which may see him being sentenced to dying if convicted. The federal case doesn’t contain terrorism allegations.
