“She saw, first-hand, through children’s eyes, when she would go into a home or be on a crime scene or an accident that happened,” Julie Thomasma, CEO of Little one and Household Charities, defined. “The terror in a lot of these children’s eyes and knowing that they needed help, and the resources weren’t there.”

“She obviously wants to make change in the world. She also knows that a change comes with a lot of people behind that change,” Demphna Krikorian, Senior Director of Growth for Little one and Household Charities, added.

In 2005, Sheri helped lead a multi-million-dollar capital marketing campaign for Little one and Household Charities to construct what’s now generally known as Angel Home.

Years later, in 2019, Sheri visited Angel Home to thank the volunteers and sponsors who had been constructing a brand new playground for the younger ladies and their toddlers who dwell there.

That is when she was launched to one of many volunteers and bought to expertise a full-circle second.

Cristina Mireles was 17 years outdated when she and her two youthful sisters landed at Angel Home to flee a foul scenario at dwelling.

“I’ll admit, you know, being 17 and about to graduate high school, thinking, you know, ‘this is where my life ends,’ just because I didn’t want to go any further. I didn’t want to keep living a life where, you know, this is going on. So, being in Angel House, you know, I had the ability to actually have goals and dreams and know that I could grow up and be something other than, you know, that victim,” Cristina defined.

And now, years later, Cristina is married and has a toddler. “I own my own home, you know, my sisters are living their lives, as well,” she added.

So, whereas we can’t see Sheri on the night information anymore, there isn’t any doubt we’ll proceed to see and really feel her impression all all through the group.

“There’s not enough time. There’s not enough words. I just want to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I speak on behalf of my sisters who had a place to stay, to be safe and to be who we are today,” Cristina says to Sheri.
